CIT 230 Site Specification Document
Goals and Purpose
This site has a two-fold purpose. The first is to provide a medium for which I can display my completed assignments for the CIT 230 course I am currently enrolled in at Brigham Young University - Idaho. Secondly, will provide a location for which friends and family can come and view the profiles of not only Alisha and Me, but also of our immediate family members and their spouses and kids. The majority of this website will be dedicated for updating friends and family on the events that are happening in our life (Alisha and Adam’s).
Audience
The target audiences of this site are our friends and family. This audience encompasses a wide range of ages; however, there are three main age group ranges: 22-28, 50-60, 70-80. This basically entails our personal friends, our parents, and our grandparents. My wife is the baby of her family and I’m among the eldest in my family, this is why the latter two age groups have such a span. A great deal of traffic will probably come from the latter two groups as they, grandparents and great-grandparents decide to show off pictures of their grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
At this point in time it is very unusual for someone to have a dial-up or similar speed connection to the internet. There are a few items/images that will take more time to pull up for someone with a slow connection speed. However, knowing who our target audience is has allowed us to optimize our site to their needs and connection abilities.
Design Requirements
- This site was predominantly designed using a liquid layout thus enhancing the overall user experience, particularly keeping in mind those whom are approaching their latter years in life and need the ability to increase font sizes.
- An island theme was chosen to help depict our personalities and likes. Our home is also decorated in a like manner. It also allows us to think of warmer places while waking in sub-zero temperatures.
- Images and photos in the Photo Albums are specifically designed so that no accompanying text underlies the image. Alt texts have been assigned to photos to allow the user to gain an understanding of the photo or image.
- The site will be perpetually modified and so the users can expect to have changes in images, whether background or galleries, however the site itself will maintain its continuity of design and navigation schemes.
Delivery Requirements
The Web site should display as required on the following browsers:
- Internet Explorer, v7 or later
- Safari 2.0
- Mozilla Firefox 1.0x or later
